Arria Owlia EE 302 – Preston Unit E – Technical Seminar Title: Voice and Video Over Wireless Networks Name of Speaker: Dr. Jerry D. Gibson Affiliation: Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UC – Santa Barbara. Dr. Jerry D. Gibson is the author, co-author, and editor of many books regarding digital communications and digital networks. It is a known fact that digital networks are becoming more integral parts of our lives every second. Although these networks have been created with data as the primary object being transferred, eventually, these networks will be required for the transfer of voice and video information. There are a number of design deficiencies in these networks that are rarely recognized or even considered in the creation of these digital networks. Dr. Gibson presented tests where G.711 and G.729 voice traffic and H.264/AVC video traffic were transmitted over IEEE 802.11a networks to simulate a realistic fading channel mode.
