What you should do? Come to Class Work the HW Go to Office Hours Read the Book “Work” on this class every day What shouldn’t you do? Try to memorize everything Work HW hours before it is due Skip class Skip HW Never ask for help Only study the night before exams EVERYTHING SEEKS OUT THE LOWEST ENERGY STATE MUST BREAK BONDS FIRST, THEN FORM NEW BONDS ADD ENERGY (LIKE WITH A FLAME) OR ADD A CATALYST TO SPEED SHT UP THERMODYNAMICS – Tells what can and can’t happen, what is the most stable? KINETICS – Deals with how things happen, what is fast, what is slow, what actually takes place. MOLECULES AND COMPOUNDS ARE MORE STABLE THAN JUST ATOMS ALONE. HYDROGEN ECONOMY – Use H2 as a fuel “zero” emission. There is no H2, where do we get it?
