Jared Restivo Nutrition Section 1 January 28, 2008 In both my sophomore and senior years of high school, my health class viewed the film “Super Size Me,” a documentary about the fast food industry and its effects on the nationwide obesity epidemic . The protagonist, Morgan, goes on a mission to eat every meal at McDonalds for an entire month . He eventually failed due to his declining health . The message of the documentary was clear and evident throughout, which was deterrence from fast food to consumers . Personally, I had a similar response both times I viewed the film . It figuratively hit me, and I avoided fast foods for a while, although, after a few months, I returned both times . Many of my fellow high school classmates responded similarly, avoiding it completely, but eventually returning . I consider the reaction to the documentary is similar to a New Years Diet . When January 1 st comes around, individuals make statements that intend to completely eliminate items from their lives, such as carbohydrates or alcohol
