Jared Restivo November 27, 2007 LST Exam #2 1 . It is said that blood is thicker than water, claiming that family ties are the strongest type of bonds . However, in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” the Dursley family’s relationship with Harry is far from comforting and supportive . When Harry’s parents, Lilly and James, were killed by Voldemort, Harry was placed in the Dursley’s possession . The Dursley family treated Harry badly, ignoring him and forcing him to live under the stairs in a cupboard for eleven years . Due to their behavior, Harry was not quite fond of them either . The relationship between Harry Potter and the Dursley family was further strained when Harry received a letter from Hogwarts School of Wizardry . The Dursley family had yet to tell Harry that he was a wizard . They also had they told him the real reason for his parents’ deaths . Up until this point, Harry believed his parents had died in a car accident .
