Some governments have seen a significant threat totheir control from the Internet. Censorship of the Internet has become a reality forpeople living in many countries around the world. Therefore, whether the Internetshould be censored in Hong Kong has been thoroughly debated. In this paper, thenegative and positive effects of Internet being censored will be discussed followed bya conclusion with my own opinion. One of the main arguments against Internet being censored is that it restrainshuman rights in some way. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific,and Cultural Organization (UNESCO, 2011,para.1), once the institution of censorshipis actualized, the freedom of expression and the unexampled volume of resources forinformation and knowledge will be influenced exactly as well as the enormouspotential for development.
