In recent years, Internet has increasingly been used by large numbers of people. That is because that the Internet allows people from all over the world to communicate with each other and share ideas conveniently and casually. However, there are also those who see the Internet as a threatening force such as cybercrime, cyber bullying and fraud in the modern world. Some governments have seen a significant threat to their control from the Internet. Censorship of the Internet has become a reality for people living in many countries around the world. Therefore, whether the Internet should be censored in Hong Kong has been thoroughly debated. In this paper, the negative and positive effects of Internet being censored will be discussed followed by a conclusion with my own opinion . One of the main arguments against Internet being censored is that it restrains human rights in some way. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO, 2011,para.1), once the institution of censorship is actualized, the freedom of expression and the unexampled volume of resources for information and knowledge will be influenced exactly as well as the enormous potential for development. Therefore, we cannot express what we want to say casually
