The Psychological Study of Parental & Living Conditions Morgan Keene & Ali Gomez Introduction and Background Summary and Conclusion The objectives of this study were to: In 2000 to 2001 an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis Phage Type (PT) 30 in Canada and the US was linked to consumption of raw almonds (Isaacs, 2005). Salmonella Enteritidis PT 30 was isolated from drag swabs of orchard floors in three geographically- linked farms and during an additional 4-year (2002-2005) study of one 61-ha orchard, on one of these farms, demonstrating the extended environmental persistence of this strain. Bibliography Objective(s) or Question Abstract Materials and Procedures Results 1 ml of overnight culture transferred to large (150 x 15 mm) TSAN and spread into a lawn, incubated at 35 ± 2 ºC for 24 ± 2 h. Cells removed from three Petri plates collected into 25 ml Butterfield’s phosphate buffer (BPB) using a sterile cotton swab. 100 g of inoculated soil transferred to 120 ml sterile, polypropylene specimen containers.
