Running head: INTERNATIONAL CRIME WITNESS 2 International Crime Witness Vacationing, I witnessed a crime in Great Britain. This paper explains what I saw and compares it to the US. Demographic Factors\ The population of Great Britain is largely White (87.2%) with Blacks of African or Caribbean descent the next largest group at 3% of the population. The majority of the rest of the population is Indian or Pakistani (CIA Factbook, 2014). English is the main language; and nearly 60% of the population is Anglican, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian, or Methodist, with 4.4% of the population Muslim and 1.3% Hindu. The population itself is 63,742,977. The largest demographic group is aged 25-54, with 41% of the total population. The next biggest group is children aged 0-14. London is the biggest city, with over 9 million people (CIA Factbook, 2014). The government is a constitutional monarchy and Commonwealth-realm, led by the Queen and certified by Parliament (CIA Factbook, 2014). The system of law is a common law system; it is the system of law that US law is built on. There are a number of powerful political parties, and the courts are broken into two types: subordinate courts and Court of Appeals; and the Supreme Court (CIA Factbook, 2014). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
