Maintainingsituational awareness, embracing systems thinkingand building commitment to a core ideology are thethree pieces to using flexible leadership. The articles also summarize how leaders can worktogether to approach new challenges. Sharing theresponsibility of making decisions in a school settingcan be especially helpful to creating a positive schoolatmosphere and a united front between teachers andadministration. When leaders have a group of peoplethey can rely on to help make crucial decisions notonly puts the princpals mind at ease, it also increasesthe morale of the teachers at the school.The first set of articles focused on how leadersorganize their school structures. If school leadersshare the responsibility with teachers and otheradministrators, more can be achieved and canincrease school morale. The first school I worked indid share responsibility and there was a group of staffthat assisted administration when making decisions.However, I now work in a school where my principaldoes not share responsibility with anyone. I’ve seenfirst-hand positives of sharing responsibility; I’veseen how involved the teachers become and how on-board they are with changes. As an aspiringadministrator, I plan on doing this when I become anadministrator. It also lends good insight on what yourstaff wants in a school.
