Administrative and Clerical Health Systems Health care facilities require various types of health systems to support and communicate health related information essential to provide safe care to patients. The administrative system supports the management functions and general operations of the organization. Administrative systems consist of the admissions, discharge, scheduling, and billing. Within the administrative system there is a financial management, which is accounts payable, ledger recordings, personnel management, and payroll. For the purpose of reimbursements, legal and statistical reasons, health care facilities have to record administrative data such as billing, measurement activities and specialty case mixing. An example of a component within an administrative health information system is the complex coding system used to generate charges for the patient care given. The coding system allows the administrative personnel in billing and financial resources to bill and collect revenue and reimbursements (Hebda & Czar, 2009). The clinical systems are the health related information that is relevant to the provider for proper diagnosis, patient treatment, monitoring of treatment, and needed follow up patient care. The physician has to obtain and gather health information for the purpose of clinical research and the daily care of his patients. Information has to be disseminated, captured and integrated for the
