Formal Lab Report Abstract- The purpose of this experiment is to test the effect that physical activity has on heart rate. In order to do this we took the normal heart rate in order to find a baseline of the subject, then sent her to run up and down stairs three times and then took heart rate again. We found that physical activity raises your heart rate. In conclusion heart rate is in fact effected by physical activity. Background- In class we have been studying the structure and function of the heart. We have drawn a heart box that shows the flow of blood through the heart and drawn very detailed image of all the structures of the heart. In the dissection of the heart that we did we were able to find and label the parts of the heart. The heart is the power house of the body, without it we would not be able to live. The heart is what supplies the body with oxygenated blood. A heart beat is made by an electrical impulse that is sent through the heart. You have what’s called a resting heartbeat and active heartbeat. Today we took both to see the difference. The goal of this experiment is to see if the heart beat quickens with physical activity. Hypothesis- Running up and down the stairs three times will cause your heart rate to rise. Materials and Methods- Materials: •Computer with Vernier Logger Pro®software 2

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
