The moral development of children is associated with many factors. The society we live in today has to do with many of these factors that affect our children’s moral development. “The term moral development most properly describes a natural, long-term process of psychological growth with regard to the individual’s capacity to think about moral problems” (Maxwell, 2014). Children today are not just influenced by their parents, teachers and peers but social media also comes into play with their moral development. Even though I teach first graders, I sometimes have to undo these social media and parental influences on their moral development. The children do not understand because they only know what they are taught. If the child only sees negative behavior and influences then the child will think this is the appropriate way to react. For example, last year I had a student that has an older that is not a good influence and he loves his big brother good or bad. He would always tell me “Ms. Kilpatrick, I know my brother is bad but
