If I had to make a couple recommendations to my district about our current testing practices. The first recommendation I would suggest to my district is to implement the practice of quizzes after reading and/or learning the information given. “Testing is studying, of a different and powerful kind” (Carey, 2014, 87).After reading about this, this method seems pretty close to formative assessing but it seems the core differences between the two practices is the fact that the quizzes are not only given more regularly but they are not used for grading but they are used to help in recalling information which in turn helps to study and learn the information he/she still has not yet comprehended. “Immediate recall in the form of a test is an effective method of aiding the retention of learning and should, therefore, be employed more frequently” (Carey, 2014, 88). I like this practice because as Carey stated this technique helps in retaining information for learning. I can see this technique being successful because every week in my classroom I do a
