As child filling out these surveys I hated filling them out because I felt they wasted my time and they were just a time filler for the teacher to do whatever they needed so basically “busywork” but as an adult and a teacher myself now I know that they are not just used as a “filler” but they have a purpose. This is why when I do getting to know you activities which are my student interest surveys due to the fact that I have younger students, I get to know what they like to do and what interest them through getting to know you activities. For example, I have the students to complete an All About Me bag where they cut out pics from magazines that showcases who they are and what they like to do, eat, how they like to have fun etc.…at the beginning of the year. I always try to make sure that they are not only engaging and creative but it’s something I can use later in the year to pull my kids in and want to learn when we are learning a particular concept. For instance, this week we are learning about possessive nouns I included
