Philosophy 156—Spring 2007 Honors section An honors section (189) will be offered for any interested student. Students can earn an additional unit on a P/NP basis only. I will not give a grade for honors section work, so do not sign up for the graded option. The requirements for the term (in addition to the standard requirements for the course) are threefold: (a) You must hand in two substantive questions every week by Tuesday at 9 a.m. starting in the second week of our class. These questions should be about the readings or the lectures for that week. The questions should be posted to the relevant folder on the discussion board on the course website. Please make sure your name is attached to your question. My hope, as you will see from the tips outlined below, is that you will use this exercise in part as practice in learning to develop paper topics of your own (but this is not required). (b) You must form a discussion group together and meet weekly for an hour starting in the second week of classes. I suggest that you meet at the end of the week and discuss your posted questions as well as other questions during the week. Students must keep a sign- in sheet and attend weekly to get credit. Put the sign-in sheet in my box every week after you meet. (c) Either as a group, or as individuals, you must meet with me twice during the term. Coming to my office hours counts and is preferred.
