If σ y = 38 ksi , determine the Factor of Safety With respect to yielding in Normal Stress. Determine the average shear stress in the bolt at A. State whether the bolt at A in single or double shear? The diameter of the bolt at A is 0.40 in. If τ y = 25 ksi , determine the Factor of Safety With respect to yielding in Shear Stress. . w = 0.8 kip/ft.
