CASE STUDY #1 Age: 82 Gender: Male Height: 5’ 8” Weight: 140 lbs A Shortness of breath g Became tired after walking up stairs and hills g Felt tightness in chest g caused him to seek medical help and get tests Risk Factors Family History A Father passed away at age 62 due to a heart attack. g Mother passed away at age 88 due to heart failure g Lifestyle Habits A No smoking g Minimal drinking (used to make wine so used to have 1-2 glasses of wine 3-5 nights a week, but has since removed all alcohol from diet) g Retired g Medical History A High Cholesterol g High Blood Pressure g Arthritis g Coronary Artery Bipass Surgery: 1992. Artery taken out of left leg and tied it into the “mammory artery” (the one that has no real purpose). Had two blocked arteries g Abdominal Surgery: Removed 6 inches from small intestine due to ulcer in upper

Individual was pumped with fluids, taken off medications, and put onto a high liquid diet and was instructed to eat a lot.
