Studying the Rate of the Reaction of
Potassium Permanganate and Oxalic Acid
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this lab was to study the rate of the reaction between two chemicals, in
this case potassium permanganate, KMnO
4
, and Oxalic Acid, H
2
C
2
O
4
.
To better understand how
rates of reaction occur, varying amounts of the individual chemicals were combined in test tubes.
By examining the differences at which the reactions took place, the study of Kinetics was better
understood.
