Elisa Giordano Due: November 29, 2006 Lab #9 Determining the Thermodynamics of Ca(OH) 2 Solubility in Water INTRODUCTION The purpose of this laboratory experiment is to examine calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH) 2 , when added to water at two different temperatures. Special thermodynamic calculations are used to find the equilibrium constant, K sp , Gibbs free energy, ∆ G o , the change in enthalpy, ∆ H o , and the change in entropy, S o .
