In “Maria Morevna” animals but birds especially play an important part in the story. There are three birds that marry Prince Ivan’s three sisters a falcon, an eagle, and a raven. Once again there is an immense amount trebling and it isn’t even worth it to try to cite all of the examples just from “Maria Morevna”. A couple of examples include the storm, the three sisters, the three birds and the threat of three that Koshchey the Deathless tells Prince Ivan about. On Pg. 555 of “Maria Morevna there is an interesting gender dynamic when “Maria Morevna found Prince Ivan to her liking and he married her” (555). I find this interesting because Maria Morevna liked Prince Ivan yet he married her. I don’t understand why she didn’t marry him. There was a good example of repetition but with a slight variation in “Maria Morevna” with the
