Terrorism has become the systematic weapon of a war that knows no borders or seldom has a face.- President of France Jacques Chirac Legendary anchorman and reporter Walter Cronkite opened the PBS special Exploring the New Face of Terror ” by that the world is in the midst of a “global war with no front lines.” It is not only the United States immersed in a war on terrorism, the world is in on it as well. The various nations around the world may not have openly declared war on terrorism, they may not even wish to be engaged in such an endeavor, but terrorism doesn’t seek out volunteers. It seeks out victims, and unfortunately everyone on this planet, even the terrorists themselves, are the victims. “Should we be concerned about terrorism?” This question is similar to other profoundly obvious questions such as “do we need oxygen to breathe?” The answer is a resounding yes. Terrorism is violence perpetrated against innocents for a personal cause, usually with the intent to gain as much media coverage as possible. Terrorists come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and attires despite the common myth that all terrorists are Muslims from Middle Eastern nations set on killing Western “infidels” in the name of Islam. Terrorists operations spring up continually in nations where ethnic, religious, or racial minorities receive no say in the way the government is run. These organizations often use any
