There were two requests with this assignment.
The first was to reproduce Fig. 5.15 with
both the exact relations and the superfantastic nozzle simulator.
The second was to
determine the pressure requirement (if any) to keep the nozzle from Lab1 purely
subsonic.
Since the second request is much easier, let us handle that.
We should know that for
choked flow the Mach number is PURELY a function of the area ratio.
If we examine
the Mach – Area ratio relationship, for each given area ratio, there exists two solutions
for the Mach number.
If we are keeping the flow subsonic throughout AND the area
ratio is symmetric about the throat, then the exit Mach number must be equal to the inlet
Mach number.
Since pressure ratios are strictly a function of the Mach number, they
must be the equal as well.
