Extra Credit Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution “is the accumulation of changes through succeeding generations of organisms that results in the emergence of new species.” – W ikipedia. Darwin proposes that since our first ancestors were put on this earth, evolution has altered them into a variety of different species. Since Darwin, we have taken great strides in the field of hereditary patterns of genetics, which are the main source of variation between organisms. A better understanding of the molecular structure of DNA has also played a large role in grasping how ancestors could evolve to form new species. While there is a large quantity of scientific evidence supporting the theory of evolution, questions still remain as to details about how an organism can change over

Unformatted text preview: time. Much of that evidence supporting Darwin’s theory of evolution lies in the fossil record, in the field of paleontology. Fossils show us that over time, accumulated changes in organisms have led to the many different species we see today. A fossil can show us an organism’s structure, and its relationships to the structures of other species, “allowing paleontologists to construct a family tree for all of the life forms on earth.” – Wikipedia . Currently, many fossils have been uncovered and identified, allowing us to put together a family tree, and a chronological record of evolution and life on earth....

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
