Chapter 10 – The Decision Making Process Decision making is a process in which steps need to be identified Regardless of the type of decision to be made, the following are steps that should be accomplished First is recognizing the problem and the need for a decision o It is very important to recognize the problem because without knowing what the problem is there is no way to fix it o The real problem needs to be identified otherwise the manager may not be dealing with the root of the problem Identify the objective of the decision o This is where the manager must determine what they want to accomplish through the decision being made. Gather and evaluate data and diagnose the situation o In this step the manager should gather any information that relates to the problem. List and evaluate alternatives o In this step the best alternatives should be listed and diagnosed.
