Commonly known around the world as football, soccer is a global pastime that’s popularity surpasses that of any American sport worldwide. The modern game of football that we watch today was formed in England during the 1800s. England is also home to the oldest association of football clubs, including the Liverpool Football Club. Liverpool F.C. was founded on March 15, 1892 by John Houlding, after the original team, Everton F.C., left over a dispute with the rent at Anfield stadium. Since most of the staff left after the split, Liverpool F.C. had to be built from scratch. However, one original staff member remained, his name was John McKenna, and he was the director of Liverpool F.C. for 30 years. Liverpool F.C. was initially rejected from the Football League, so they had to begin there career in the Lancashire League. The club played there first competitive match at home on September 3, 1892 against Higher Walton, defeating them eight to zero. There first season as a
