Sociology offers the unique perspective that: - Individuals are always participating in something larger than themselves  o Human beings are social being.  o We have choices in life, but we are born in social world involving  built norms/ standards/ expectation that we have to follow/ obey o In order to understand an individual, must understand the social  context In order to understand social context, must also understand  individual as well - Human are both the product and the producers of the social world  o How is a society established, how is it maintained. By being born into a society, you’re given sth taken for  granted The society exists as individuals produce/ pass on it.  And the society gives individuals the mind to do so. Sociological perspective - The  sociological perspective  stresses the social contexts in which people  live. o Examinee the institutions where a person is born into, the family,  the political/ economical system  Understand in a larger context - It examines how these contexts influence people’s lives - At the center of the sociological perspective is the question of how groups  influence people’s lives Social location - The corners of life that people occupy because of where they are located
