Know the types of problems that can occur when measuring public opinion, including causes and types of sampling error, the structure of questions, and the intent of the pollster. In particular, be able to identify various types and examples of sampling error. Know what normal, skewed, and bimodal distributions are, and know the significance of each for the political system, as discussed in the text. Know what political socialization is, and know the various factors, or agents of political socialization discussed in class and in the text. Be familiar with how particular factors tend to influence opinion on specific issues, as presented in the text. Which factors were identified as agents of early childhood socialization?
