They are all types of abuse and it can be describe as sexual, emotional, physical, verbal or either a combination of them all. Abuse happen everywhere including a hospital, nursing, home, or either a home and individuals that does this abuse are family, friends, doctors, nurses, and social workers. Abuse is defined as any action that intentionally harms or injures another person (Abuse 2011). Physical abuse is the most common abuse that is recognized throughout the healthcare industry, and it is determined by any kind of hitting, pitching, shaking, burning, biting, shaking, beating, throwing, and any other actions that can cause a physical injury that causes pain and leaves marks. At a local hospital, in the area where I work, abuse happens there all the time. However, nothing is reported and the only prime evidence is the patient’s word against the nurse’s plus they are elderly so no one believes what they say.
