Unformatted text preview: 2/15/07 Jose Ponce The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo was one of my cultural events. It took place at the AT&T center on Sunday, February 11 ,2007 at 1:00pm. Cowboys from all over the country were involved in this event. The rodeo consisted of two types of competitions, roughstock events and timed events. The roughstock events consisted of bareback riding, saddle bronc, and bull riding. A contestants score depends on his performance and the animals performance. To earn a qualified score, the cowboy must stay on a bucking horse or bull, using only one hand, for eight seconds. If the rider touches the animal, himself or any of his equipment with his free hand, he is disqualified. The timed events consist of steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping and barrel racing. In these types of events contestants compete against the clock, as well as against each other. Their goal is to post the fastest time. In steer wrestling and the roping events, calves and steers are allowed a head start. The contestant, on horseback, starts in a the roping events, calves and steers are allowed a head start....
