Jose Ponce Sociology- Section 6 Status Role Assignment The character I decided to write on was Lieutenant Colonel Harold Moore which is played by Mel Gibson. Lieutenant Moore stars on the film We Were Soldiers which is mainly about the battle of la Drang in November 1965, which was the first major battle of American troops in the Vietnam War. The Status role of Harold Moore was Lieutenant Colonel. A few ways I was able to identify his status role was by the respect that is shown from his troops. The respect he receives from his troops and others shows that he is of higher rank and therefore deserves more respect. The Lieutenant Colonel is also identified by his leadership and commitment shown throughout the film. There are a few quotes that show his leadership such as, “I will be the first one to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off. And I will leave no one behind. Dead, or alive, we all come home together.” These brave words from the Lieutenant Colonel show his
