1.The external female genitals (Vulva ) •. The external female genitals are collectively referred to as The Vulva. •. The Vulva, comprised: mons pubis labia majora and labia minora clitoris opening of the urethra (meatus) vaginal vestibule (vaginal opening) vestibular bulbs vestibular glands. The Vulval vestibule (Vulvar vestibule ) is a part of the vulva between the labia minora into which open Urethral vaginal opening

Mons Veneris (mons pubis) The soft mound at the front of the vulva (fatty tissue covering the pubic bone). It is sexually sensitive in some women and protects the pubic bone and vulva from the impact of sexual intercourse. After puberty it is covered with pubic hair, usually in a triangular shape. Labia Majora The outer "lips" of the vulva. They are pads of loose connective and adipose tissue , as well as some smooth muscle. The labia major wrap around the vulva from the mons pubis to the perineum, usually covered with pubic hair.

It hides, partially or entirely, the other parts of the vulva. There is also a longitudinal separation (pudendal cleft). C ontain numerous sweat and oil glands. It has been suggested that the scent from these oils are sexually arousing. Labia Minora It lies medial to the labia majora They are the inner lips of the vulva. They are thin stretches of tissue within the labia majora that fold and protect the vagina, urethra, and clitoris. There is no pubic hair on the labia minora, but there are sebaceous glands. The two smaller lips of the labia minora come together longitudinally to form the prepuce , a fold that covers part of the clitoris. Both the inner and outer labia are quite sensitive to touch and pressure.

Clitoris ((glans clitordis ) -Key The clitoris, visible as the small white oval between the top of the labia minora and the clitoral hood (prepuce of clitoris) It is a small body of spongy tissue and is the most sensitive part of the entire genital area Only the tip or glans of the clitoris shows externally , The clitoris consists of a midline shaft lying in the medial sagittal plane about 2-4 cm long and 1-2 cm wide which bifurcates internally into paired curved crura 5-9 cm long (attached to the under surface of the pubic symphysis The clitoris is capped externally with a glans about 20 -30mm long with a similar diameter

The glans is covered by a clitoral hood formed in part by the fusion of the upper part of the two labia minora .
