KATHERINE KOLCABA'S COMFORT THEORY2Kolcaba’s comfort theory is a relatively new nursing theory that first appeared in the 1990s. This theory is a mid-range nursing theory for education, practice, and research. Such occurrence is caused by the low level of abstraction and the limited amount of propositions and concepts (Kolcaba, 2003). The theory is important nursing concept, thus, in order to use it, three steps are obliged. They are (1) the understanding of definition of comfort, (2) understanding the general concepts of the theory, and (3) relating the theory to specific practical issues.
