Unformatted text preview: Addiel Chaudhry 1-29-2008 WMST 2000 Feminist Studies Autobiographical Sketch Music, for me is a way of life. I am a dancer, a DJ and on occasion a shower singer. Music sends out many messages to people from all walks of life. Many of the messages, regardless of the genre of music, refer to women. These messages sometimes are positive and sometimes are negative. In hip-hop the slang term for women is bitches. These very influential artists use the term bitch so often in their music, which the fans of hip-hop assume it is ok to use this derogatory term. In my music collection there are three main genres of music: Indian music, R & B, and of course Hip-hop. Each of these genres sends out a different message about women and feminism. Rhythm and blues is a genre of soulful music which almost always is sending out a message of love and love making. In my collection, I have many R & B songs. Almost all of them talk about making love to the prefect woman. The artists also talk about how they would do whatever the woman would love to the prefect woman....
