Current Programs An investments to make basic sanitation universally available in Brazil is estimated at US$ 2.5 billion a year for the next twenty years. Negotiations with the International Monetary Fund are currently being held, and aim to reclassify resources devoted to sanitation to insure more funds are received. Renewable energy Brazil is widely known for its high level of renewable energy use: 85 per cent of its installed capacity is hydroelectric in origin. The Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry of Mines and Energy is currently implementing new planning measures geared to reducing damaging environmental effects. Despite this, there have been direct links between hydro electrical dams and failing farmland in Brazil.

Fun Facts Members of his own cabinet have called Lula da Silva administration the most corrupt in Brazils history While his Birth name was Luiz Inacio da Silva, in order to run for governorship of the state of Sao Paulo under the name in which he was nationally recognized, Lula, he had to change his name to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Thats right he added his nickname into his actual legal name. President da Silva dropped out of school in 4th grade, and didnt learn to read until he was 10 years old....
