COMBINING NURSE LEADER WITH ADVOCACY Being a nurse leader takes a combination of clinical expertise, continued self-evaluation, and good communication skills. Nurse leaders are nurses that have a quality in them that distinct them from nurse managers also. Being able to convince other to trust and follow your lead is something some nurse managers cannot do. However, one can look within oneself and assess ones strengths and weaknesses in relation to creating a leader in themselves. This writer will reflect on four content areas: personal and professional accountability, career planning, personal journey disciplines and reflective practice behaviors(AANC, 2008).
