Office: HSSB 3063 E-mail Address: [email protected] Course Description This course is intended as an introduction to the history of western civilization from 1050 to 1715. Over the course of this class students will be introduced to some of the main political, religious, social and cultural phenomena that have characterized this crucial period in the history of the West. In addition to giving students a background on the history of this period, this course will introduce them to the historical practice and methodology. At the end of this course students will be familiar with different kinds of primary sources and will learn how to interpret them. Also, this class will be relatively writing-intensive, and over the course of this class I expect students to learn how to write effective, accurate and elegant historical prose. Course Requirements
