Russian Fairytales Summary Misery A poor man meets misery after working for his rich brother. On the way home from a feast, he realizes misery is with him. Misery continues to convince the man to sell his belongings so that he may drink. Misery then shows him gold in a hole. The man convinces misery in and traps him. When the mans brother comes to find misery so may receive gold, he too is followed. Eventually he is also able to track and trick him. I didn’t find this story anything buy confusing to read. The Armless Maiden There was a brother and sister who left. The brother marries a sorceress. Each day he leaves he says goodbye but leaves his sister the responsibilities of the house. Each time the sorceress is jealous and each time she ruins the sister’s work. After many of these mishaps occur, the husband takes his sister into the woods and cuts off her arms. She is left there and walks until she meets a young man who she marries. The sorceress continues to fool her and her new husband. She returns home and tells her story to her
