Three social problems I feel affect us here in United States are homelessness, unemployment and racism. They say everything gets better with time and for one of these issues that statement has proven true. For the other two I hope they begin to improve soon. Homelessness is a major issue in the United States. Everyone should have a place to call home that is safe and secure. Living on the streets is dangerous with no protection from the changing weather conditions. “On any given night over 600,000 people are homeless; it is estimated that approximately 2.3 to 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness annually” (Baker et al, 2016). That is a lot of people out on the street without a roof over their head and there are so many different sit that can lead to a person or family becoming homeless. Some of life events are no longer being able to afford housing due to increasing rent costs, running away from domestic violence, disabilities, drug addictions or for some veterans having a difficult time adjusting back to civilian life.
