Project Proposal Paper 2IntroductionMillions of customers search the Wal-Mart website Walmart.com daily. Wal-Mart carries pretty much anything you need for your home, garden or car. It is a great place to go pick up what you need at the last minute. While Wal-Mart is arguably the best “one-stop shop” in the world, customers would be much happier if knew that last minute item was in the store closest to them before entering the store. Research shows that online shopping is responsible for $335 billion of revenue for companies and will be as much as $523 billion by the year 2020 (Linder, 2016). With those statistics, it is the responsibility of Wal-Mart to make online shopping as user-friendly and fluid as possible. The implementation of a product tracking system will no less increase the online sales of Wal-Mart, thus increasing the company’s overall revenue.Mission and ObjectivesOur mission is to create a better online shopping experience for Wal-Mart customers by providingthem with a way to search for products in the Wal-Mart store closest to them. By implementing this tracking system, we hope to increase the revenue sales of Wal-Mart because it will allow customers to easily find the products they are searching for and to hopefully allow them to pick up the items from the store closest to them.High-level Tasks or ScopeThis project will consist of creating a product tracking system for Wal-Mart customers that either shop online or would like to know if the product(s) they need are in the store closest tothem. The project will be completed by December, 2018. The system will include a way to find specific items in Wal-Mart stores by searching the name or product number, information on the number remaining in stock at a specific location, options to have it held in the Customer Service department (if needed) and shipping information if the product is unavailable locally.
