Unformatted text preview: Comp Lit 5; Paper 1— DUE: AT THE BEGINNING OF LECTURE, 4:40, Thursday Feb 14-- lateness penalized Write a 1000 to 1500 word paper responding to and analyzing either "The Twelve Wild Ducks," "The Robber Bridegroom," or “The Frog Princess.” Double space, use a 12 point readable font, leave sufficient margins for comments, provide an accurate word count, do not use a title page. Assume your reader has read the tale; thus you don’t have to give plot summary. As a general rule, if you begin a paragraph with plot summary you are off on the wrong track. Plot summary is only appropriate when you are using it in support of some point you are making. Thus it should follow a sentence giving some analysis or response. When starting to analyze the tale (doing your prewriting) do not begin with a thesis or a theme. Just start talking about the story. Start by looking at the first sentence or sentences of theme....
