Natalie Rastello 14721 Assignment 1 Ethical Dilemma: Hiring Based on Genetic Data 1. Where it’s legal, do you think it’s ethical for employers to engage in genetic testing with the intent to screen for diseases or potential diseases? Currently, I do not think that it is ethical for employers to engage in genetic testing with the intent to screen for diseases or potential diseases . First off, the project is very new and subjective given the interpretation of the DNA . The tests carry the risk of genetic discrimination including the loss of employment and promotion . Overall, I believe that it is an invasion of privacy and is not an accurate review of the possible employee . Also, while one may carry genes that make them susceptible for a certain disease or condition it does not mean that the condition will be present .
