Howard 1 Hunter Howard Dr. Covington English 2321 May 9, 2007 Literary Response Essay # 1 I chose essay number six and I selected the reading from Beowulf to apply to my own life. Beowulf is an epic poem that is about a warrior that does a lot of fighting and killing against superhuman monsters. There are many different ways to read Beowulf and interpret its meaning. With me being a male and reading this epic I tend to be more interested and analyze the words differently then you would say a female. I am not saying that a woman would not be interested anymore into the story then I am, but men are stereotyped to like stories involving action, killing, blood and gore. Women are stereotyped to be into romance, love, and softer and less fast paced readings. Like I said this is not true for everyone but I would dare to say it is true for most of the population.
