Chekhouna Thiam Communication 101-11 11a.m. Room 1706 Seat #21 Group #4 Sleep Good morning my fellow classmates! My name is Chekhouna Thiam, and today I would like to take this time to introduce you all to the importance of sleep, its benefits, and the effects it may have if we find ourselves not getting the right amount. Here is something you may not know! According to the novel brain rules in 1959, New York disk jockey Peter Tripp decided he would stay awake for two hundred straight hours. At the one hundred and twenty hour mark, or five days in. Tripp began to show real signs of mental impairment, which would only worsen with time. This just so happens to be one of the many interesting facts pertaining to the importance of sleep, and how much of it we need to function properly. At the two hundred mark more than eight days Tripp was done. Presumably he went to bed and stayed there for a long time. Imagine that! No sleep for eight days straight sounds ridiculous, yet has been proven to be possible, although I would not recommend anybody try and beat Peter Tripp’s’ record find it hard to stay awake for just two days during finals week without feeling anxious.
