Katie Johnson Composition II Review: Philippe Legrain, In Defense of Globalization: Why Cultural Exchange Is Still an Overwhelming Force for Good Globalization (International Economy: 2003). The central idea of this article is that globalization is everywhere and “this cross- fertilization is a force of good”. Specifically the author, Philippe Legrain, focuses on the myth that it is America that is the root of all things bad when it comes to globalization. The article reads like the author is defending the idea of the globalization of American culture. It seems as if the audience of this piece is for those individuals who are against globalization and to people whom believe that globalization “involves the imposition of Americanized uniformity”. This article appeared in the International Economy , which is a magazine about global policy, trade, and trends that is aimed at financial professionals and politicians.
