Was the centralization of the ACS the right move for the company? The ACS has relied on
local innovation in the past and with the centralization of the company the CEO cut out the
ability for this. Personally, I believe the CEO should of centralized the company but not cut out
the local aspects of it. By doing this the CEO got the benefits of the centralized company (better
communication, consistency, and better leadership) but he consolidated the number of
locations “from 57 to 13.”
SWOT Analysis:
· Strength: With the centralization of the ACS the company has gotten better
communication, more consistency, better leadership team, and it has made the top-
down leadership easier. Another strength of the ACS is the access of care it provides for
the people it supports. It helps them pay for treatment, provide support, and gives the
patients emotional support.
· Weakness : The biggest weakness of the ACS is that with the centralization the company
no longer has as many local chapters to rely on for innovation and change. In the past
the ACS has relied on these local chapters for “many of their innovative successes,” like
