ECO – 201 Inflation Rate of Gas Prices The theory that is my biggest pet peeve is why gas prices are so expensive with such a high inflation rate. Well it could be a number of different things for example, possibly summer driving season when many families take vacations. At the same time, the inflation of gas prices has a large inflation rate at certain points during the year. Hence, the summer driving season, after a natural disaster like Hurricane Katrina, and particularly after September 11 this reflects directly on the war of terrorism. “The inflation rate is the percentage increase in the price from one year to the next” (Hubbard & O’brien, 244). During the summer, many families take a vacation at some point during the summer months. Although, if your family was to go on vacation during the summer months it would be towards the end of summer because it will not be nearly as much as to mid- summer months.
