Neurons are an important for the functioning of the brain and nervous system because it transmit information to nerve cells, muscles, etc. Myelin sheath A layer of fatty tissue surrounding many neuron fibers and enables greater transmission speed of neural impulses as impulse hops from one node to the next. Myelin Sheath is evident in multiple sclerosis, which is a disease in which the myelin sheath degenerates. The result is slow communication to muscles and the eventual loss of muscle control. Action potential Example: Like a Neuron, a toilet has an action potential. When you flush, an “impulse” is sent down the sewer pipe. Then it goes into refractory period, which is the short delay after flushing because you can’t flush again since the tank is being refilled. Then it goes into resting potential, where its “charged” when there’s is water in the tank and can be able to flush again. The toilet operates on the all-or-none principle – it

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
