I do think Nordstrom’s should expand their store by moving towards its target of fifty stores, including by moving international and entering Canada. By researching the areas in which there are no competing department stores, Nordstrom’s would prevent breaking the designer distribution agreements. However, in major metropolitan areas, such as NYC, there are probably exceptions for this rule. I don’t think the exclusivity of the brand will diminish by adding additional stores because they still are prestigious and know for selling high quality clothing. Also, they don’t have nearly as many stores as most of its competitors do. In order to maintain its culture and standards of professional client services, Nordstrom’s should implement a training program run by headquarters that every new store needs to complete. This training program will cater to everyone from the store managers to the sales associate. Additionally, Nordstrom’s should gradually wean in the new manager and have a temporary experienced manager, from a different Nordstrom’s
