Course DescriptionA career in healthcare sciences is tremendously rewarding and has multiple opportunities beyond justthe care of patients. In preparation of clinical exposure, students much understand the larger frameworkof the current health care system—the challenges of delivering care as well as understand thegovernance and regulations in medicine. This course will be a general overview to the health caresystems and will help the student prepare for health care work. The complexities of the medical field willbe highlighted as well as the challenges providers face. Additionally, the skill of communication andtranslating science to care of patients from different backgrounds and education is critically importantfor the success of a provider. Caring for patients within the system and with these challenges will behighlighted throughout the semester.
