IntroductionThe purpose of the workplace assessment tasks is to confirm you have the knowledge andskills required to meet their legal and ethical obligations when working in the area health,safety and well-being.This includes the ability to1.Identify legal and ethical obligations2.Meet legal and ethical obligations3.Contribute to workplace improvementsHow students participate in assessmentYou are required read and instructions for Tasks 1 to 4 described below. Your assessor willprovide additional instructions and resources for you to complete each of the practical tasks.Assessment conditionsBecause the range of legal and ethical issues raised in this unit issues may not present to youwhile on placement or due to the scope of your role during placement assessment isconducted using scenarios in MADEC’s simulated workplace. Specific resources required andinstructions of how each scenario is to be set up to meet the assessment conditions aredetailed under each scenario.Assessment instructionsYou are required to discuss, plan, coordinate and implement a range of tasks and respond toquestions to demonstrate understanding and skill application. To facilitate the appropriatelearning and developing skills, practical tasks MUST be completed within a regulated EarlyChildhood Education and Care setting or an approved simulated workplace setting.Attempting assessment tasksDuring your participation in each role play your assessor will be the assessor using theAssessment Observation Record (AOR). The AOR describes the knowledge and skills orobservable behaviors assessor will be looking for during the observation. Where you not satisfactorily complete the assessment this is recorded in the AOR for feedbackto the student and a time negotiated for reassessment.Assessors are required to mark each question as either Satisfactory or Not Yet SatisfactoryAssessment outcomesThe Early Childhood Education and Care training packages are vocational qualifications thatare competency based. For each assessment undertaken you will be assessed as Satisfactoryor Not Yet Satisfactory. Where you are assessed as ‘Not Yet Satisfactory’, the assessor willprovide you with feedback regarding what needs to be re-attempted and the resubmissionprocess.
