SCHOOL COMMUNITY PROFILE 1 School Community Profile: Kalamazoo Schools in Michigan Population Distribution Kalamazoo public schools in Michigan exist amidst a vibrant community. As at 2015, the total population of Michigan was 9,883,640. This population is mostly dominated by Whites at 78%, followed by blacks at 14%. The Hispanic community in Michigan constitutes about 4%, Asians 2% and the other races take up the remaining percentage. The total male and female population in Michigan stands at 4,848,114 and 5,035,526 respectively. The median age in this community is 39 years with a specific median for males standing at 38 years and females at 40 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2015). The female population distribution across is also highly correlated and similar to the male population distribution. Unemployment The Michigan State employment statistics as at July 2015 stood at 4,728,400 persons working in the Civilian labor force.
